Our whimsical Mummer brooch is designed and handcrafted by Shelley, a NL artisan. The brooch is inspired by the annual visit from the Mummers. Mummering is a Newfoundland Christmas tradition. In Petty Harbour, from December 26 to January 6, it was customary for a group of adults to disguise their identities with whatever clothing and household items they have on hand and then go from house to house in the community and entertain their hosts with music and dancing.
