An iceberg is a large piece of ice that has broken off a glacier or ice sheet and carried out to sea. An iceberg is made up of fresh water. Although many icebergs appear to be immense in size, the largest part of these majestic icebergs are below the surface of the water. The majority of the icebergs that float past NL. have floated down from Greenland. It is not unusual to see icebergs from Cape Spear and Petty Harbour during the Spring and early Summer.
