Lighthouses mark dangerous coastlines, hazardous rocks and safe entry to harbours. The Cape Spear Lighthouse, located at the most easterly point of land in North America, is only 15 minutes drive from Petty Harbour. There are two lighthouses at the Cape Spear National Historic Site. Tours are available of the old lighthouse, constructed in 1836 and now the oldest surviving lighthouse in NL.
These stained glass lighthouses are designed and individually handmade by NL artisan Shelley.
